Insurance
Colorado College will continue its long-standing partnership with Academic HealthPlans (AHP) to manage the mandatory insurance requirement and the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). This year, beginning in Fall 2025, Colorado College will be utilizing a new AHP platform called Care26 for the enrollment and waiver process/activity. The Care26 platform is created with a mobile-first mindset, built to support smartphone devices, without sacrificing valuable content or diminishing the user experience.
On July 15, 2025, students will begin receiving emails directly from AHP inviting them to enroll in the SHIP or submit a wavier to opt out of the SHIP with proof of insurance. All correspondence from AHP will come from an ahpcare.com email account. These Care26 emails are legitimate and the Care26 site is secure.
For students needing any support navigating the SHIP waiver/enrollment portal through Academic HealthPlans/Care26, please contact:
All students are required to have comprehensive health insurance while attending Colorado College AND to provide annual proof of coverage. This requirement is an attempt to minimize catastrophic financial risk for students. Students may elect coverage under their own insurance, through their employer or their parents' policies, or the through the Student Health Insurance Plan offered by the college.
If you are studying away from 品色堂 for an entire semester (on a non-品色堂 program only, which is led by a partner organization or university and not taught by 品色堂 professors), you are not subject to the SHIP waiver/enrollment requirement and do not need to enroll/waive the SHIP for the semester you are abroad.
Our Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) insurance carrier and claims administrator for the 2025-2026 academic year are as follows:
- Insurance Carrier: Anthem (Denver, Colorado)
- Claims Administrator: Anthem (Denver, Colorado)
- Waiver/Eligibility Administrator: Academic Health Plans/Risk Strategies

Students who complete the waiver/enrollment process in the fall and are enrolled at 品色堂 for the spring semester will have their SHIP waiver or enrollment automatically roll over to the spring semester. Completing this process early will allow you faster access to your SHIP plan. Your 品色堂 student account will be billed the cost of the SHIP at the beginning of each mandatory enrollment period.
The cost of the 2025-2026 SHIP annual enrollment is $4975.

Once approved, you will receive an email from Academic HealthPlans, Inc. Your student account will be credited the full SHIP premium amount.
ENROLLMENT PROCESS:
If you are not covered under a comparable health insurance plan, you MUST enroll annually in the college-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan.
